Captain Bill and his Dad

Born and raised in Leelanau County, Captain Bill Winoweicki has been fishing since he was strong enough to hold a cane pole. Times have progressed since then but the excitement and experience is still the same.

Bill Winowiecki is a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain.

About Captain Bill's Activities

Captain Bill spends much of his free time protecting our fishery in support of the Charter Boat Industry.

Captain Bill is President of the Michigan Charter Boat Association. He represents Captains in all Ports in Michigan.

Captain Bill sits on the Lake Michigan Citizen’s Advisory Board. His opinions are valued on what is happening to the fishery in his area.

He is a member of the Grand Traverse Area Sport Fishing Association.

Captain Bill donates much of his time communicating with Fisherman, DNR officials, and Charter Boat Captains about the Past, Present and Future of our Lake Michigan Fishery.

Award Ceremony

Captain Bill, President of the Michigan Charter Boat Association had the honor of awarding 3 Scholarships at Michigan State University. The MCBA Scholarships are awarded to students who are majoring in Fisheries and Natural Resources. Congratulations to Laura Leppek, Olivia Triltsch, and Brady Yokom. Keep up the good work!

Captain Bill serving on the Lake Michigan Citizens Advisory Committee.  Captain Bill has served on this committee for the past 18 years. He was elected Vice Chair by his peers because of his passion to serve and protect Lake Michigan sport fishing men and women, and the charter fishing industry.
